About him
I am a genuine, sincere man who values integrity, faithfulness and kindness. My wife of 35 years died 15 months ago and I'm still a little at sea so I do come with a bit of bereavement baggage - athough I'm starting to feel the need to rebuild my life with a focus on laughter and joy. I run my own consultancy firm, but only dabble these days, but if I meet the right person would consider giving up work at some point soon.
About his ideal match
My ideal match is someone who is sincere, kind and loving. Someone who is not too uptight or anxious about things in general. Someone who loves walking in the rain, travel and is as comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt as they are done up the the nines. Someone who has a focus on health and fitness without either being an obsession.
Having thought about my marriage the following sums up what I think about successful relationships. Initial attraction is the spark. But to burn brightly over time, it seems to me the best and longest-surviving relationships rely on mutual respect, unwavering trust and the balance of building a shared life without losing individual autonomy. They involve partnership in the best sense, where two people pull together with each other’s best interests at the forefront of their minds, but their individual freedom intact . Trust is imperative and probably the greatest gift you can give another person; the belief that they will behave well, act in your best interests and not betray you. That requires strength and the ability to walk the world with confidence knowing that if it comes to it, on your own you’re a survivor, but in honest partnership your potential may be even greater. Well that's my experience to date for what its worth and I guess my ideal match would probably think along similar lines. Hope that helps.
