About him
I feel like a product, trying to entice consumers who may, one day, get to meet me in person. Delayed gratification anyone?
Who am I? I am still trying to figure that out, now on my 4th (I think) career. Professionally I have been a journalist, science writer, documentary filmmaker, and teacher of critical thinking on paper. Non-professionally I am an artist of many different media, an aspiring fine art photographer, a maker of art you can use, a protester for women's rights, the environment, and Black Lives Matter. I detest Trump and Trumpism and love Jefferson and pluralistic democracy. I have traveled far and wide for experience and as a field reporter. Personally, I am a dad to two amazing adult daughters, a Philosopher son-in-law, and a cellmate to a lovely gray female with whiskers and a sassy tail. I was married for 29 years and ended it amicably in 6 'no arbitration' months. We are still very good friends.
I am fascinated with project-based, student-led learning, and Lifelong Kindergarten as a method of investigation. I am moderately eccentric, decidedly unconventional, and enjoy cooking as much as I do painting or drawing. Which is a lot.
About his ideal match
I do not seek perfection or an ideal, for they are illusions. I am looking for above all a friend, with whom I can be more intimate than any other person on the planet. Not to fall in love with - because that means falling in love with an idea or a romantic projection who no one can ever fulfill. Rather, to love, honor, and respect for the rest of my days. A woman who is ferocious in her convictions and passions. Who will accept me as I am, and won't try to make me into someone else (at my age it would never work). Someone who can match me in intellect, curiosity, and versatility (hopefully). A colleague, an advisor, whose compassion and empathy restores my soul.
Oh yeah, and hot too.
Deal Breakers: smoking. Dislike of animals, especially cats. Cognitive dissonance about religion, vaccines or Trump. Someone who is a control freak, a sociopath and has an aversion to compromise. Apathy toward life. Bad hygiene.
