About her
Hello! I'm looking for my last soulmate. Recently my calendar has been peppered with funerals, and let's be honest, none of us knows how long we have got. So! Let's live a little. Take a few risks. My main profile picture was taken in Sept 2022, and all the other photos date from June 2021 to present. I have lots of good friends, but am long divorced, and have not had a "special relationship" for ages. I don't want to be single for the rest of my life, so here I am, taking the plunge to find you.
I am most at home in the countryside in muddy boots and I like to keep fit and go out walking most days. My cottage is on the borders of the Peak District and Sheffield, and I enjoy all that has to offer, but I am not a northerner. I moved to South Yorkshire in 1990 from London. My father was an RAF officer so I had an itinerant childhood and have relations all over the world. I speak good French, rusty German, basic Italian and an incomprehensible smattering of Polish, learned because my daughter in law is Polish, and I wanted to be able to chat to her relations at her Great Big Polish Wedding to my son in 2014. I particularly love France and have always wanted to follow in Rick Stein's footsteps and float down the Canal du Midi cycling off to sample little restaurants on the banks en route. I just need the right chap to share this adventure with as Rick is spoken for!
I am self-employed and my career is in theatre and tv, but I rarely work now. My children both live near by and I have a beloved grandson who is 6. Apart from my family and walking, I love writing, independent cinema, theatre, cooking for friends and family, drawing. reading, restaurants, music, social history, radio 4, country pubs, debate, languages, poetry, museums, exhibitions of all kinds, country houses, and surprises. And I would like to travel further afield more often.

Ideally my future partner will have a sense of humour, be educated, eternally curious, well travelled, fit, confident, enthusiastic, and socially at ease; his "own man" with suggestions of things to do or try, who loves his independence and his family as much as I do mine, but also enjoys my company, great food, wine, the great outdoors and the Arts. He might have good old friends that he would like me to meet.
I enjoy occasional large family get-togethers in the UK and abroad, as well as tramping the hills of the Peak District, or travelling away for holidays, weekends in the Lakes, the North Yorks moors, the Dales, Norfolk, Cornwall...or anywhere! I like having friends over and it would be great if he enjoyed all these things. Sometimes it is enough to just be together too, quietly pottering in the garden. My guilty pleasure is Masterchef and an addiction to quizzes of all kinds, from the FT Links to Mastermind. I have sisters in the States, and am one of six siblings so hopefully we could travel to see them too. I hope he would understand the closeness I have to my grown up children and my grandson, and if my match were a devoted Dad/grandfather too so much the better!
