About him
My name is Joseph: my father is Italian, and my mother is Swedish, but due to my international upbringing and schooling in the U.S. and EU my first language is English.
My professional background is in economics and entrepreneurship, and I currently live in Italy. I've lived and worked 15 years in the United States (Seattle, San Diego, Boston), graduated from Brown University in Providence, RI (USA), and have lived 24 years in northern Italy. I am the founder of an Internet content provider company based in Venice, Italy as well as of a smaller financial translation company which allows me to now work remotely: from home (current base in Turin), or in Rome, or occasionally London and Paris (where my brothers live).
However, my primary interests and aspirations lie in traditional philosophy and the Arts, in particular the literary and martial arts. My literary interests are related to poetry and novel writing, with the 19th century Romantic movement as my primary passion and influence (English, Italian and Swedish literature: the languages I speak).
I have also trained for 21 years, and am now authorized to teach, two traditional martial arts: classical Italian fencing under a "Maestro" in Milan, and traditional Japanese Kobudo bujutsu under a "Sensei" (teacher) in Noda, Japan. These are martial systems for personal development, artistic expression and self-protection with direct master to student lineages traceable back to the 1700's - in the case of Italian classical fencing - and the 1400's for the Japanese system.
I've added in a few serious pictures of myself, including in working environments, as well as a few sillier ones with my brother's Siberian cat Odin and me having some fun at the Los Angeles Wax Museum :)
I am a relaxed and cheerful person, overall very romantic in nature, and who strongly believes in living honorably and as a gentleman.
