I'm quite an independent person, content in my own company. I'm happier one-to-one or in small groups rather than large gatherings. My friendships are very important to me, and I put time and energy into maintaining them - which I find very rewarding.
I think I have a good sense of humour, though (like attraction) that's a very personal thing. Mine ranges from the blackly ironic (honed over the years to get through the working week in today's hard-pressed public sector) to the downright silly with people I'm close to.
I took early retirement some years ago, but still carry on my professional work which I find very rewarding. My leisure interests are in the arts, especially the visual arts. I visit museums and art galleries regularly. I take photographs myself, and in the past have exhibited them in several group and individual shows in my local annual arts festival. In 2018, after a long break, I held a show in Greece, a very rewarding experience. Music is probably less important to me: my tastes cover an eccentric range from baroque (especially Bach), through blues and rock (especially Dylan) to Indian classical music. On the all-too-rare occasions when I get the chance I love dancing to 60s music - though I'm more enthusiastic than stylish.
I'm a city rather than a country person. I like Dutch cities, not only for their art galleries, but because they offer a very human-scale townscape for strolling and relaxing in. I also like Greek islands - for exploring archaeological sites and even walking through the hills, as well as lazing on the beach.
Ideally, I'd like to meet a partner for a long-term relationship: someone with whom there's the right chemistry and emotional connection.

Someone warm, kind, intelligent, keen on the arts, interested in current affairs, happy with their life but looking for a soulmate to enrich it. The qualities I especially value are honesty, integrity, kindness, compassion. I'd like to meet someone with the emotional openness to accept vulnerabilities, as well as celebrate the strength of shared desires. Someone who is also quite independent: keen to share some interests and activities, but also happy to pursue others separately. I find that sense of humour is very revealing about someone's personality, and how they view the world. I've been attracted to someone by their humour - not that it need be the same as mine, but that it "clicks" in some way with how I see things.
