About him
I'm now catching up on doing my art full time, although I drive into town one afternoon a week to volunteer in a local art museum.
After University I worked for a long time in corporate communications; baffling 'senior management' and trying to conform.
I now live in a tiny cottage up a hill in rural Somerset. I'm drawing or sculpting almost every day. I exhibit stuff now and then.
Living well; civilised, content and comfortable in my own skin, can repair stuff with a needle and thread, (not skin obviously!). I can cook one or two things really well, slow one pot dishes a speciality.
Voracious reader, anything, but especially criticism, biographies and theory. The weekend FT used to be a must for its arts, books and ideas reviews.
I prefer lunch in a cafe to a late dinner in a restaurant (I get tired and bored) but I scrub up remarkably well (so I'm told!) for concerts or exhibitions. I do the best of my creative work in the evening, so I guard that time.
People say I'm 'very English' (it must be genetic; family legend says my ancestors were bandits on the Somerset Levels at the time of King Alfred; yes, those ones; they made cakes and beat up kings). I find I'm definitely getting more liberal as I get older.
I'll be straight and say I decided to stop working due to a disability (which I've had for 40 years - might be slowly progressive but it hasn't stopped me yet and formed me into the person I am; optimistic, determined but empathetic, and for that I'm grateful). I do my exercises every morning but I use a wheelchair to get around now; I'll tell you more about that if we speak.
I've been described as 'Almost feral' by two different psychologist friends (not in their professional capacity) I think they meant instinctive rather than smelly!
Oh, I have a weakness for catchy euro pop on Monocle radio while I'm drawing or playing my laptop at backgammon.

Oh I don't know. It would help if you were creative yourself with words, pencil or clay; or sharper than a sackful of weasels. You'd had a good education or were looking out of window during one.
I have enormous respect for people who think for themselves and make stuff.
