Friends describe me as funny yet sensitive, loyal, patient and intelligent. I seem to be better at solving their problems than my own. Everyone needs a friend. It doesn't hurt that I'm a passionate cook and constant art lover who is always looking for new talent while honouring the pioneers. I used to write about the arts for a daily newspaper. I miss the sense of adventure, not the poorly executed performances. I grew up in an Irish Catholic home and have a steady yet playful love of tradition, manners, chivalry, style. Some of the best moments I've had were those connective conversations before and after transforming experiences. You see a play or hear a concert and you want to race home and write, or talk until the pub closes. gorgeous. Those moments are few and far between now. They need not be with the right companion. I get a thrill when a woman cooks for me, drives fast, calls me in the middle of a work day because she read something she wanted to share. With the right person, even shopping can be an unforgettable adventure, (Did I mention I like shopping too?) I don't live in this hyper-sensitive bubble. I also like some sports - you have to in Ottawa - but I am looking for a connection that goes a little deeper.

This is a hard thing to describe because attraction is so elastic. I am physically attracted to Irish-British women with a sense of humour, respect for others and an aversion to phoney politics. I like women who are independent and yet not rude or insistently imposing about it. I like women who are demanding yet nurturing. I like women who are open-minded yet know who they are.
