About him
Trying to be as objective as I can, I would say I am quite a reserved, sensitive, caring person with a good sense of humour and a lateral take on things.
I have a fondness for classical and choral music but am pretty broad-minded in my taste and have recently been warming to the more contemporary scene.
I love the outdoors - walking, cycling, and generally taking in great scenery and landscapes, making the most of the lovely part of the country in which I live.
Gardening too I find good for the body and the soul, and I have had fun creating something which has turned out well (though quite a lot of trial and error!).
Through quite a major refurbishment of my house, I have been drawn to interior design and would like to develop this. Good furniture and antiques are also close to my heart and I love going to auctions and digging around in reclamation centres.
A love of wine is also right up there. Italy and all things Italian hold a special place for me, with memories of happy family holidays. Morocco and Oman are other countries I am fond of (I have passable Arabic).
I take a keen interest in current affairs and enjoy lively conversation and debate on topical issues.
