In His Own Words

About him

"Who am I"? Mmm. That's a difficult one to answer accurately and honestly when one is the person about whom one is speaking. Friends have described me as warm and compassionate, intelligent and tolerant but with a strong sense of personal moral direction and responsibility. I can, at times, be quite humorous I'm told - but it can be a bit dry and anarchic (and involve bleating at sheep when I'm in the mood!).

I am quite a reflective type of person (I did, after all, study philosophy at university!) and enjoy a good discussion about many things, from questions of social justice right through to, e.g., whether faith can be given or even needs a philosophical justification.

I consider myself a very loyal person and believe that it is vitally important that others can rely on you when they are need, particularly family and close friends, although I also try to help others where I can in the course a day. I also regard myself as friendly and generally find it easy to get along with most people. Despite the challenges that life throws one's way, I generally maintain quite a postive attitude towards life it is this - more than anything else - which has kept me on the straight and narrow thus far.

About his ideal match

It's hard to say what my ideal partner should be like, since I don't have a check-list against which to measure her. But some things come to mind here: She should be warm and trustworthy and of a fundamentally optimistic nature, preferably somebody who enjoys the arts and is not adverse to reflecting critically on what is going on around her and who would enjoy a good discussion or two. She would also not take herself too seriously (I think it is fundamentally important to be able to laugh at one's own quirks) and be open to new experiences in life, of whatever kind they might be.
