About her
I'm fine on my own but there's someone vital missing, a soul-mate. I can seem rather serious to people who have just met me, but those who know me well realise I've a mischievous sense of humour. I've a happy positive disposition, find life exciting and enjoy learning. I like visiting places that inspire me, they offer new experiences, make me question myself and my previous ideas. Some of my photos are from several years ago. The one in Iran, where you can't see my hair, is 3 years old and the one with pear tree wallpaper is the most recent. Friends have suggested I might lie about my age but that would seem pointless.
I'm interested in music, art, history, opera and the theatre, especially well-acted Shakespeare. I'm enthusiastic about the importance and excitement of reading, I find words, grammar, language and how it works fascinating; Having had a radio play broadcast, I was struggling to write a novel but it became a memoir. I enjoy the outdoors, countryside, wildlife, walking and swimming in warm water. Although I trekked in Nepal and climbed Kilimanjaro a few years ago, my knees aren't up to that now, despite attending weekly Pilates classes. I listen to music, mainly classical or folk, but can't play an instrument competently. Having hated it for years, I now derive pleasure from pottering about in the garden. I enjoy intelligent male company when it isn't sex- or sport-focused; I don't really 'get' football or shopping and I'm bemused by most technological appliances.
I'm confident in most situations and will ask for guidance if I need to. I'm comfortable on my own but am also at ease with groups of relative strangers where I tend to appraise the situation before plunging in. I enjoy walking my dog every day, he is one of my best friends, provides much of what I am looking for, loves me and enjoys my company. I like a challenge; I'm not a perfectionist but I appreciate a job well done and am bemused by lethargy. I enjoy the ridiculous, especially verbal or situational humour.
