In His Own Words

About him

My friends describe me as: generous, emotionally needy, altruistic, intelligent, mystical, moral. Strangers describe me as: polite, humorous, and intelligent. I think myself as kind, traditional, liberal, gentle, bookish, compassionate, and emotional and perhaps a little proud, but not arrogant. I like good film, most novels, older poetry, England and most things English, classical music, Leonard Cohen, Opera, Tracey Chapman, and Hymns. I like Camus, Dostoevsky, Tennessee Williams, Tennyson, T.S. Eliot, Faulkner, Austen, Dickens, and Virginia Woolf. Outlook on life: Somewhere between Williams frustration, "We are children in a vast-kindergarten trying to spell God's name with the wrong letter-blocks" and Dickens plain-speech, "Business? Humankind was my business! Human Welfare was my business! Mercy, benevolence, forbearance, and charity were all my business!" Forgive any misquotation. They are from memory. The latter was Marley's answer to why he was damned when he had been a good man of business." Perhaps the two quotes are related.

About his ideal match

That is kind of hard to say. I like people who are funny with a lot of energy, but I also like people who are gentle and kind. I think its important that we have a lot in common so it would be ideal for my girlfriend/date to like literature and art. I also like philosophy and history. Somebody, who reads. Watches well-received films, etc. That said, I've been in love with girls before when we had little in common. I want a serious long-term relationship, but I also want to take things slow.
