About her
I am a writer and academic: a creative soul equally at home with art house or Hollywood. I have a PhD but I am often very silly. Passionate about causes and people. Fiercely loyal. I love reading books in the sunshine, wandering the city, countryside or coast, walking possibly in circles just because it feels good, constructing stories around the lives of the people you see around town, lazy Sunday afternoons, dancing (I have just started a ballet class), and perfect silences.
Sometimes I take my shoes off and wander around the office building singing Fleetwood Mac (it has good acoustics).
I live and work in south west London. My job is researching, writing and teaching contemporary fiction. I am hugely passionate about anything that involves words and stories (in any form): art, philosophy, music, film, literature. Chagall, DeLillo, Bronte (ask me which one), Deleuze, Derrida, The Smiths, Lynch, Plath (and Hughes), but the list changes every day...
In the time that is left, I am experimenting with writing fiction: short stories mainly, but I am also (very tentatively) writing a novel which is very influenced by the visual arts and French philosophy. Also occasional song lyrics influenced only by the random thoughts in my head.
I have a three year old little girl, who lives with me most of the time, but spends most weekends with her dad. I have plenty of free time in the week too. Some people I know with children don't mention them on their online profiles, and I understand why: people can wrongly assume this defines who you are. But I think if you have something special in your life you should never be ashamed of it. She is amazing, and deserves her own mention.
I am independent, with amazing friends and a life I love. But it would be great to share that with someone...
